Summary Performs interpreting work and duties for the New Mexico School for the Deaf community in a positive and receptive manner, while helping to advance the school's mission and vision. The position involves interpreting for a diverse group of people as well as mentoring newer interpreters and interns. Interpreting work is between American Sign Language and English, in a community rich with native ASL users and in settings often influenced by Spanish and other spoken languages. Settings include but are not limited to high register conference interpreting, platform events, classroom interpreting, sporting/athletic events, phone conferences, frozen texts such as vlogs, workshops/trainings in a variety of topics, administrative, governmental, basic health care interpreting, parent and staff meetings, performing arts, school tours/visits, vocational settings, home visits, IEP meetings, board meetings, mental health settings, etc. In addition, provides professional development and...
