First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale

First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale creates spaces of Christ-centered connection and inspires people of all ages to explore faith in open and honest ways, cultivating possibilities for growth and transformation.

The church possesses a rich diversity of thought and perspective. First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale, the second largest church in the Presbytery of Tropical Florida, has a rich history of partnership with the Fort Lauderdale community. Many of the original civic leaders who incorporated the city in 1911 were also involved in the founding of the church in 1912. From its origin to present-day, the church has been shaped by this founding DNA, pursuing a desire, through God’s grace, to make Fort Lauderdale a great place to live. The church has been described as “pioneers in the community,” “cooperative,” “impossible dreamers,” “involved,” “visionary,” “welcoming,” and “enthusiastic.” As Fort Lauderdale experiences a surge in growth, the church has fabulous human, financial, and physical resources to expand its reach to Fort Lauderdale with Christ’s love.
