JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Deputy Administrator, the Destination Stewardship Manager supports the

implementation of Kilohana’s destination stewardship programs, including initiatives funded through the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority (HTA) Destination Stewardship RFP. This role focuses on coordinating program delivery, technical assistance, and capacity-building efforts that advance community-centered, regenerative tourism across Hawaiʻi, while working closely with internal teams, HTA, community partners, and subcontractors to ensure programs are delivered with cultural integrity, operational excellence, and alignment with the Hawaiian Council’s broader goals.

 

DUTIES, RESPONSIBIITIES, & EXPECTATIONS:

·      Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

·      Execute HTA funded destination stewardship programs, including work plans, timelines, and deliverables.

·      Manage the design and delivery of Technical Assistance and Capacity Building programs in partnership with HTA and designated subcontractors.

·      Coordinate day-to-day program operations, subcontractor engagement, and program documentation.

·      Oversee operations and logistics for program-related events, including trainings, workshops, and retreats.

·      Lead invoicing processes, post-program evaluations, and final reporting to HTA.

·      Cultivate and maintain relationships with community organizations, industry partners, and agency stakeholders.

·      Collaborate cross-functionally with other Hawaiian Council departments to advance organizational goals and destination stewardship priorities.

·      Participate in organizational meetings, planning efforts, and special projects as needed.

·      Other additional and/or duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·      Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, or a related field preferred.

·      An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient.

·      Experience coordinating or managing programs, preferably within community-based, nonprofit, or public-sector settings.

·      Familiarity with destination stewardship, regenerative tourism, or technical assistance programs.

·      Experience supporting budgets, contracts, or invoicing processes.

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:

·      Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

·      Excellent organizational, coordination, and relationship-management skills.

·      Ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders with attention to detail.

·      Sound problem-solving and analytical skills, with a continuous improvement mindset.

·      Knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to Native Hawaiian issues is preferred.
