Facilitate communication between students who are deaf/hard of hearing and their hearing classmates, classroom teachers and other personnel in the school setting. Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities 1. Use sign language communication to present and clarify information for students in all activities where communication support is needed. 2. Assist the D/HH student to function successfully in mainstream classrooms. 3. Communicate oral language to each deaf student by using sign language and explain what the student may not understand. 4. Stay updated with academic vocabulary needed for each day of instruction in Signed Exact English and ASL. 5. Attend and interpret at ARD committee meetings as needed. 6. Attend to the academic, developmental, and behavioral progress of students, and share that information with the teacher in the appropriate format. 7.
