Job Description SUMMARY: Assists the School Nurse in the smooth and efficient operation of the school health offices and services to improve the health status of students and promote a positive educational environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs routine first aid procedures; assists in screening ill or injured students Upon evaluation, refers seriously ill or injured students to the emergency medical system (911). Serves as a liaison between children, staff, school nurse, parents, and community and external health and social agencies Maintains student health records. Ensures health histories are recorded. May maintain diabetic student's records and conduct diabetic sugar tests and maintains food allergy information for teachers and cafeteria staff Screens hearing and vision of students and posts results to health records Gathers immunization history from parents, physicians and health care facilities and records on health record....
