Job Description General Definition of Work The Section 504 Counselor, under general supervision, performs intermediate-level work with limited decision-making discretion providing coordination and case management for Section 504 services. Section 504 is a federal civil rights law under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 that prohibits disability discrimination in any program receiving federal funds and requires public schools to provide a "free appropriate public education" (FAPE) and reasonable accommodations to students with physical or mental impairments.
