Job Description Job Summary Position provides technical nursing support to medically fragile, disabled and other assigned students under the supervision of the school nurse. Assists the school nurse in providing health care to all students and staff to include health screening, assessing health needs, providing first aid/emergency care and health counseling. This position is assigned by the Supervisor of Health Services based on school division placement of special education classes and medically fragile students. Additional sites or reassignment during the school year is possible. Job Description Position Open Until Filled General Description: Develops, implements and manages the school health porgram for the students. Applicant must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a registered or practical nurse. Must be certified in first aid and CPR. Conducts school health services, including physical assessments, review and enforcement of immunizations and screening for hearing and vision as mandated by state regulations. Makes referrals to outside agencies when necessary. Maintains a cumulative health record on all students. Provides medically prescribed interventions, including medications administration, in accordance with state regulations. Provides care to ill children on a daily basis.
