Job Description 2026-2027 Special Education Teacher Slate Valley Unified Union School District is seeking a licensed special education teacher to support identified students in grades K-6. Responsibilities include providing specialized instruction in classrooms, in small groups, and individually in the basic skill areas, as well as supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students. Experience in teaching early literacy and reading is preferred. Small caseload, mentoring, and instructional coaching will be available to the selected candidate. Professional educator/special educator license is required or the candidate must be eligible for a provisional license in special education. Job Description St. Johnsbury Academy seeks a skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team who is comfortable providing instruction in fundamental reading and basic mathematics. Responsibilities with a full-time position include teaching three to four sections each semester. The qualified candidate will have a strong background in differentiated instruction and a Vermont certification in Special Education (or be eligible). Training in the Orton Gillingham approach is preferred; however, the Academy will provide training if needed.
