Job Description POSITION PURPOSE: The school day is spent in the target language of Chinese. Curriculum includes standards based objectives taught in in Chinese with the exception of English Language Arts which is taught by a mainstream teacher. Teachers will adapt grade level curriculum into Chinese and use researched based instructional strategies to deliver content instruction. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: As Immersion Teacher: Teach math, science, social studies, Chinese Language Arts in the target language. Use curriculum/textbooks provided by the district and translate the English portion into Chinese. Create supplemental math/science/social studies /cultural materials, as needed. Demonstrate proficiency in reading, written and oral communication in the target language in order to organize, plan and implement the content curriculum.
