This role involves preparing, executing, and validating test programs while collaborating with a diverse range of customers, including motorsports teams, leading automotive manufacturers, and tire and sensor developers. The Tire Test Engineer plays a key role in delivering precise and reliable data through comprehensive testing, analysis, and technical expertise. This position is located in Alton, VA and requires full-time, on-site attendance and the use of safety/protective equipment. The position is subject to an alternate work schedule (shift work) to balance sponsored research testing needs with availability of test equipment. Job Description Reporting to the Director of Virginia Tech Electric Service (VTES), the Engineering Manager supervises and coordinates all engineering activities in support of the distribution of electricity on the VTES System on the Virginia Tech Campus and for VTES customers within the Town of Blacksburg. The Engineering Manager will promote reliable and safe operation of the VTES distribution system through identifying and engineering needed expansion and maintenance of the VTES system, development of appropriate procedures, support of routine and emergency maintenance, and monitoring and maintenance of a sound preventative maintenance program.
