Job Description The special education assistant works in a classroom with special needs students: Helps the students with instruction and classroom activities. Accompanies the students during transition times. Depending on the abilities of the students they are working with, the instructional assistant may be involved in such activities as feeding students, pushing wheelchairs, lifting students, toileting students, changing diapers, cleaning up students after toileting accidents, and washing and drying clothes.
