Job Description TEACHER AIDE Special Education Services POSITION SUMMARY: The teacher aide is under the direct supervision of the teacher. She/he must be able to follow directions, be flexible in dealing with different groups and different personalities, and maintain an open and positive attitude. A collaborative working relationship with the teacher is paramount. QUALIFICATIONS : High school graduate or equivalent. Must be interested in gaining knowledge in child development, mental impairment, general and abnormal psychology. CPR and first aid training preferred. Past work experience with people who have cognitive impairments. Group home training Valid Michigan driver's license. Must be able to lift students, manipulate wheelchair bound students, including pulling, pushing, bending, stooping and twisting. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
