Provide resources and assistance to IDEA students , alumni, and their families in their pursuit of legal residency in the United States Collaborate with College Counselors to identify students and alumni in need of legal assistance regarding residency status and/or De ferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) P erform intake of cases, troubleshoot and establish case strategy, draft and file petitions/applications, communicate with clients regarding case processing and procedural issues , update and manage status reports Design the strategy for scaling such support as we continue to grow in size Goal: 90% of all students and alumni who are DACA rec i pients maintain residency eligibility in the U.S. 2. Provide resources and assistance to IDEA staff members in pursuit of work authorization and/or legal residency in the United States to secure long-term employment with our organization Meet with and provide legal counsel to current IDEA staff members in need of assistance regarding residency status , work visas and/or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Perform intake of cases, troubleshoot and establish case strategy, draft and file petitions/applications, communicate with clients regarding case processing and procedural issues, update and manage status reports Establish organization-wide policies and procedures to ensure effectiveness and efficiency Goal: 90 % of staff meeting requirements for sponsorship receive work authorization 3. Collaborate with Human Assets Talent Acquisition Team to support innovative human capital practices that attract and retain highly qualified employees from foreign countries Provide expert and strategic legal counsel to our Talent Acquisition team regarding recruitment and retention strategies for hard-to-fill vacancies Support any collaborative partnerships with recruitment and staffing sources for our efforts Serve as a resource for evaluating the effectiveness and ensuring the continuous improvement of our international recruitment initiatives Goal: I ncrease by 2 0% annually the number of employees hired through such innovative strategies 4 . Supervisory Responsibilities May supervise one or more paralegals or other administrative staff roles Qualifications: Education: J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school Experience: 3+ years of relevant legal experience in immigration cases and counse l Licenses or Certifications : active member in good standing with the Bar Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of immigration laws and policies as they relate to residency, employment, and education eligibility Ability to handle large case l oads , prioritize, and process information and requests efficiently and effectively Strong verbal and written communication skills Effective interpersonal skills with a wide variety of constituents Takes initiative and works with minimal supervision Fluency reading, writing, and speaking Spanish Compensation: Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $95,000 and $118,000 commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
