Job Description Pre-Kindergarten Teacher (1.0 FTE) POSITION DESCRIPTION The Pre-Kindergarten Teacher will teach three and four-year-old children. The program is academically focused on reading, writing, mathematics, and science. Kindergarten preparation will be a core responsibility of the teachers utilizing the Early Learning Development Standards and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) integration. Daily hands-on learning will be expected to be provided by teachers. Each classroom will be co-assisted by a paraprofessional. Routine progress monitoring of reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social competencies will be expected. Job Description EASTCONN operates a Clinical, Developmental and Therapeutic (CDT) program in Willimantic, serving grades K-12. This program is designed for students who need a highly structured, supportive, therapeutic environment in order to achieve academic and behavioral success. This program emphasizes supporting students in acquiring the academic, social, emotional and behavioral skills necessary to successfully return to their local public schools or a less restrictive environment, and combine individualized instruction with a multimodal approach and high-interest materials to maximize learning. Members of our multidisciplinary team, including psychologists and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), are also available to consult with districts to assess program or district-wide needs, with the goal of building in-district capacity to develop and support student programs in their home schools/communities.
