OVERVIEW

AIM is seeking an exceptional School Nurse who will provide high-quality health services and promote a safe, supportive school environment that enables students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Student wellness is essential to school success, and the School

Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring timely care, managing chronic conditions, responding to emergencies, and supporting health-related accommodations. The School Nurse will educate students and staff on healthy habits, injury prevention, and wellness practices while fostering a compassionate and respectful atmosphere. This role will also collaborate with families, administrators, and community health providers to ensure coordinated care, accurate health records, and compliance with health regulations. 1. Clinical Care & Student Services

Provide first aid and nursing care for illnesses and injuries that occur at school.

Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and school policy.

Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) and emergency action plans for students with chronic or acute conditions.

Communicate with parents/guardians and healthcare providers regarding student health concerns and necessary documentation.

2. Compliance & Operations

Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with FERPA, HIPAA, and state regulations.

Monitor immunization and health screening compliance according to Georgia Department of Public Health and Department of Education requirements.

Maintain records and submit required health reports and documentation.

Respond to public health directives, including communicable disease tracking and parent notification

3. Collaboration & School Culture

Contribute to building a positive, professional, and rigorous school culture that reflects AIM’s commitment to equity, excellence, student voice, and meaningful relationships.

Conduct training for teachers and staff on first aid, CPR, bloodborne pathogens, medication administration, and chronic condition management (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies, seizures).

Qualifications

Required

Current Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Experience providing health services in a school, clinical, or community health setting.

Preferred

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Experience in pediatric, public health, or school nursing.

Certification in CPR/First Aid Instructor training or willingness to obtain.

Familiarity with Georgia Department of Public Health and GaDOE school health regulations.

A desire to contribute to building a school model from the ground up.

Serve as the school’s primary health resource for staff and families, promoting health literacy and preventive care.

Collaborate with administrators to develop and update health and safety protocols, including communicable disease prevention and response plans.

Actively engage in professional development aligned with the school’s improvement plan, goals, and charter performance targets.

Participate in school wellness initiatives and health-related community partnerships.

Maintain flexibility, adaptability, and composure in a dynamic learning environment.
