Peabody School seeks an experienced, creative, energetic, and collaborative educator to serve as a music teacher beginning in August 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Understands the academic, social, and emotional needs of gifted learners, and creates a learning environment that allows them the opportunity to activate their creativity and ingenuity
  • Designs and implements a music curriculum to ensure that all students become proficient in music, with particular emphasis on differentiation to meet the needs of all students Instills a love and appreciation for music through a comprehensive and sequential music curriculum
  • Is enthusiastic, creative, and dynamic, and enjoys working with students of all ages
  • Seeks advanced materials and unusual opportunities for his/her students and implements a broad repertoire of teaching skills and techniques
  • Differentiates instruction by content, process, and product Works with students with varied learning styles and levels of mastery
  • Facilitates, monitors, and assesses student learning appropriately and effectively
  • Creates and maintains a learning environment with high standards of student behavior, in which all students are actively engaged and are contributing members
  • Has extensive knowledge about both the use and production of music in an educational setting
  • Keeps informed on the latest practices, teaching methods, and programs related to music
  • Seek advanced materials and unusual opportunities for his/her students and implement a broad repertoire of teaching skills and techniques
  • Aids students in developing music literacy skills while introducing them to a variety of different instruments and genres of music


Job Requirements

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or music education
  • Experience teaching in elementary education in a public or private school
  • Experience working with academically advanced children
  • Experience with Orff or Kodaly practices
  • Is able to play through most of book 1 (Essential Elements and Standards of Excellence) on the following instruments: (violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, alto sax, trombone, trumpet, baritone, French horn)
  • Is proficient in piano and guitar

Qualifications & Skills
  • Must have previous classroom experience in teaching music
  • Experience designing and implementing music curriculum
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills
