Special Education Teacher

Job Description

Merrimac Heights Academy seeks dynamic individuals to join a team of collaborative and caring teachers in empowering students for a lifetime of success. Special Education Teachers will implement the IEP, using evidence based instructional programs which have particular emphasis on, language-based, project-based, and thematic instruction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized Education Program (IEP) tailored to each student's diverse learning needs
• Deliver specialized small group and/or individualized instruction using evidence based curriculum and techniques to support academic and social-emotional goals
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state and district regulations
• Collaborate with related services providers, colleagues, instructional assistants, and families to support students' learning and growth
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, staff meetings, and parent teacher conferences
• Use a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward and achievement of learning goals and objectives, and to plan and/or modify further instruction
• Follow and implement MHA positive behavior support procedures
• attend all school events

Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Special Education from an accredited university
• A valid MA educational certification
• Strong communication skills
• Evidence of a strong commitment to the mission of MHA
