SCC is a California Distinguished School. We are the oldest continually running charter school in California and one of the oldest operating charter schools in the United States. The SCC curriculum is centered on current research about learning and the grouping of students. All instruction is based on the constructivist learning theory and multiple intelligence theory, so children are engaged in hands-on, minds-on learning everyday. Curriculum is created by educators and is structured around integrated thematic units. We are resource-based (no textbooks) and instructional practices promote learning in multi-age classroom settings with two grade levels of children in one classroom.
