Friends Forever is an innovative new program, designed to foster lifelong community, connection, and opportunity for Riverview School alumni. Building on Riverview's legacy of empowering young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Friends Forever marks the start of an exciting new chapter of support and growth through meaningful social engagement, work experience, and inclusive living spaces.
We're seeking a full-time passionate Community Life Mentor to support our growing program. You'll lead fun, purposeful activities, support participants in building social skills, explore interests like art, wellness, recreation, and job readiness - all while promoting confidence and connection. This is a dynamic role ideal for someone who is flexible, creative, and has a deep commitment to person-centered planning while being adaptable to the changing needs of a new and growing initiative.
Key Responsibilities
-Facilitate group and one-on-one activities aligned with participant interests
-Provide support in life skills, social engagement, and community inclusion
-Ensure participant safety and well-being
-Transport participants to and from activities
-Collaborate with team members, families, and community partners
-Document progress and support person-centered planning
Requirements:
-Valid Driver's license and ability to transport students safely
-Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs, walk moderate distances, and provide reasonable physical assistance to participants as needed.
-Ability to travel between Riverview sites. Some local, regional, or out of area travel may be required.
-Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, depending on program needs.
-Current adult CPR/AED/Standard First Aid certifications or ability to acquire and maintain
-Suitable background check (CORI,SORI, DCF) and fingerprinting required
-Legal authorization to work in the US
