Technician: Telecommunication Services
JOB SUMMARYPerforms daily work required to support the local and field offices for telephones and voice communications. Receives calls from end users of schools and offices for telephone system, wireless telephone, and voice line related issues. Helps schedule in-house, and contracted, installations and repair visits to the schools. Contacts vendors regularly to; report service problems, order new services, and to manage the accounts. Orders and pays for services, equipment, materials and supplies needed for the department
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Receives work request calls from school and office based employees.
- Creates work orders and forwards them to appropriate personnel.
- Performs department budget management, including billing, accounts payable/receivable.
- Handles purchasing and procurement for the department.
- Contacts vendors for service installations and repair/emergency related work.
- Invoices and collects money from employees for phone services that were for personal use.
- Sends parts and accessories to end users, as needed.
- Provides customer service follow-up calls.
- Practices safe work habits involving self and other employees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
- Associate's Degree in related field of education from a regionally accredited college or university preferred.
Experience- Three (3) years related administrative experience with proven knowledge and application within the related field required;
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics- Knowledge of telephone billing and accounting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with school system administrators, staff, and vendors.
- Demonstrates ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
