Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in grounds, landscaping, and tree maintenance/removal.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Four (4) years of experience in grounds, landscaping, and tree maintenance/removal.
  • Valid Florida Class A commercial driver's license (CDL with air brakes endorsement.
  • Proven experience successfully supervising business/department functions.
Relevant experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the planting and care of trees, shrubbery, flowers, and grass as they relate to the maintenance of school sites.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and grounds diagrams.
  • Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing guidance and motivation while establishing goals and expectations of accountability.

ResponsibilitiesESSENTIALJOBFUNCTIONS:
  • Execute all required responsibilities of a Sites Worker as needed.
  • Support in coordinating grounds maintenance, landscaping, and tree maintenance/removal at District facilities.
  • Regularly update school personnel on the progress of work orders through on-the-job observations and feedback from site staff.
  • Assist in instructing personnel on performing specific tasks as needed.
  • Use basic district computer applications for communication, training, and record-keeping.
  • Notify the supervisor of any problem areas or issues in work completion.
  • Ensure compliance with equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in the hiring and training of new personnel.
  • Work effectively under the pressure of tight deadlines, personnel shortages, and multiple requests.
  • Comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures.
  • Register with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • Any job-related duties as assigned.
