TITLE: High School Principal
TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); 12 Month work year; anticipated start date 07/01/2026 salary commensurate with experience (range $165,000-$175,000/year)
LOCATION: Hopkinton High School, Hopkinton, Massachusetts

Hopkinton Public Schools seeks an experienced, student-centered, and forward-thinking educational leader to serve as Principal of Hopkinton High School beginning July 1, 2026.

Hopkinton High School is a high-performing, comprehensive high school serving a diverse and growing student population.

The successful candidate will be a strong instructional leader who can balance academic excellence, student well-being, and inclusive school culture while leading a complex and high-expectations school community.

Candidates must be certified or certifiable as a Massachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal and demonstrate experience in secondary curriculum, instruction, school leadership, and collaborative problem-solving. The Principal reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and is a key member of the district leadership team.

The Principal is responsible for providing the leadership necessary to ensure the academic, social, and emotional success of every student and the effective operation of Hopkinton High School.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
  • Massachusetts certification (or eligibility for certification) as a Principal or Assistant Principal;
  • Master's degree or higher in educational leadership or a related field;
  • Minimum of five years of teaching and/or administrative experience at the secondary level;
  • Demonstrated success leading instructional improvement, staff development, and school culture.

Preferred:
  • Experience leading in a high-performing, high-expectations school;
  • Experience with MTSS, inclusive practices, and data-informed decision-making;
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

DUTIES:

Instructional Leadership & Student Success
  • Provide visionary leadership for teaching and learning across all academic and co-curricular programs;
  • Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and academically rigorous school climate;
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate instructional staff in accordance with Massachusetts Educator Evaluation Standards and district contracts;
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality Tier 1 instruction and strong systems for academic intervention, enrichment, and support;
  • Lead the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) in academics, behavior, and social-emotional learning;
  • Oversee Special Education, Section 504, and English Learner programming in collaboration with the district's Student Services team;
  • Use data to inform instruction, scheduling, staffing, and continuous improvement;
  • Promote equity, belonging, and access for all students;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
School Management & Operations
  • Oversee daily operations, including attendance, scheduling, discipline, safety, and building use;
  • Foster positive behavioral systems that promote dignity, accountability, and belonging;
  • Supervise and collaborate with building administrators, counselors, and support staff;
  • Coordinate building services, including facilities, security, food service, and student support offices;
  • Develop and manage the school budget in alignment with district priorities;
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and district policies and regulations;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Family, Community, and Student Engagement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families, students, staff, and community partners;
  • Promote transparent and consistent communication;
  • Work collaboratively with the School Council and other advisory groups;
  • Support student leadership, extracurricular activities, and a positive school culture;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Professional Leadership
  • Serve as a member of the district leadership team;
  • Collaborate with other principals and central office leaders on district-wide initiatives;
  • Keep the Superintendent informed of significant developments and challenges;
  • Engage in continuous professional learning and leadership development;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment

This is a full-time, 12 month position. Salary range: $165,000 - $175,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided in accordance with district and town policies. Employment is subject to the successful completion of all required background checks.
