About the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading

The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR) brings together and supports a nationwide network of local coalitions, community organizations, and state partners committed to assuring more hopeful futures for children growing up in families facing economic and social challenges.

Founded in 2010, CGLR focuses on two key goals: helping children stay on track in their learning and development by the end of kindergarten and ensuring they read at grade level by the end of third grade. Both are powerful predictors of future school success and long-term opportunity.

CGLR advances this work through its long-standing focus on school readiness, attendance, and summer learning, along with new priorities emerging from the pandemic. Current efforts emphasize accelerating learning recovery, expanding digital connectivity, strengthening family engagement, and embracing the belief that learning happens everywhere: in classrooms, homes, and communities. It also leads the Learning and Engagement Opportunities (LEO) framework, which connects leaders, funders, educators, and partners nationwide through webinars, online peer exchanges, and resources that share strategies to improve learning and development for children and families.

Position Summary

The Operations and Engagement Associate supports the strategy, planning, promotion, and delivery of CGLR's Learning and Engagement Opportunities (LEO) framework by coordinating operations and systems, executing communications workflows, and supporting the technical production of virtual learning events.

This role is central to the behind-the-scenes work that keeps LEO moving with quality and consistency each week. The Associate partners closely with the Chief Learning Officer to coordinate the annual learning calendar, maintain planning systems, support webinar production, and ensure that communications, digital content, and engagement data are timely, accurate, and aligned with the CGLR and LEO brand.

The Associate also manages essential platforms that support LEO, including Salesforce, Campaign Monitor, Zoom, WordPress, and Canva. This position is well suited for someone who is highly organized, tech-forward, and energized by mission-driven work.

Key Responsibilities
Keep LEO running smoothly, week after week.
  • Own weekly readiness for LEO sessions by coordinating the learning calendar and workflow so session leads, materials, technology, and communications stay on track.
  • Maintain systems that keep a distributed team aligned, including timelines and shared tracking tools, and provide clear updates and reminders so nothing slips.
  • Partner closely with the Chief Learning Officer and session leads to anticipate needs, flag risks early, solve problems quickly, and bring order and clarity to a fast-moving schedule.
Deliver polished communications that reflect the CGLR and LEO brand.
  • Manage the communications cycle for sessions, including promotions, communications toolkits, social media content, and reminders.
  • Lead social media promotion with a strategic, engagement-focused approach, using strong judgment about messaging, format, timing, and calls to action.
  • Create simple, clean visuals and outreach materials that help sessions stand out and drive participation.
  • Use engagement data and platform insights to strengthen outreach over time and ensure communications are accurate, consistent, and aligned with CGLR's voice and brand.
Support high-quality virtual learning experiences.
  • Support production of live sessions on Zoom, including speaker support, slide management, and day-of troubleshooting.
  • Help ensure that each session feels welcoming, organized, and easy to join for participants nationwide.
Manage digital content and engagement systems.
  • Keep the LEO microsite current, including session pages, speaker information, recordings, and summaries.
  • Use Salesforce and Campaign Monitor to support outreach, list health, and engagement reporting.
A Week in the Life

Each week blends planning, coordination, and teamwork. Early in the week, you partner with the Chief Learning Officer to confirm what is ahead and keep the team aligned on priorities, deadlines, and next steps. You take ownership for the details, track what is still outstanding, and communicate proactively with clear updates and timely reminders so presenters, materials, and logistics are ready on time.

As Tuesday approaches, you shift into execution mode, supporting speakers, confirming details, and helping ensure the session runs smoothly on Zoom. Afterward, you help share resources, update the LEO microsite, and close the loop on follow-ups. Throughout it all, you bring structure and momentum to the work, helping a distributed team deliver consistent, high-quality learning experiences for a national community of partners.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in education, public policy, communications/marketing, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of experience supporting programs, communications, operations, or project coordination in a nonprofit or education environment.
  • Strong owner's mindset with a track record of taking responsibility for details, follow-through, and results in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Strategic communications skills, including the ability to craft clear messages, adapt tone for different audiences, and support communications strategy across email, web, and social channels.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
  • Strong project management instincts, with the ability to anticipate needs, surface risks early, and proactively solve problems.
