Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a maintenance related trade.
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Florida Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brakes endorsement.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
  • Ability to perform a variety of entry-level trades skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints desirable.
  • Ability to comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.

ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform manual and semi-skilled work and/or assist in a variety of skilled trades.
  • Determine, secure, and use appropriate equipment, materials, and parts in a cost-effective manner.
  • Perform routine duties involving the repair and maintenance of tools and equipment District-wide.
  • Comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures.
  • Use chemicals appropriate to assigned repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Operate necessary equipment that, depending on the assignment, may include a box blade, bulldozer, front-end loader, jackhammer, trencher, grinder, personnel lift, scissor lift, hand tools, sander, dump truck, flatbed, bucket truck, fork lift, etc.
  • Utilize basic District computer applications for communication, training, and record keeping.
  • Register with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
  • Maintain driver and CDL licensure and required endorsements if applicable.
  • Any job-related duties as assigned.
