Preschool Intervention Specialist (Friends Preschool)

Position Type: Preschool Teacher in an integrated classroom

Location: Bellbrook Preschool

Start Date: August, 2026 (for the 26-27 school year)

Greene County Educational Service Center: This position is employed by the Greene County Educational Service Center. However, the Preschool Program is located in the Friends Care Center, a non school environment and serves students from the Yellow Springs and Cedar Cliff school districts.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education with either an Intervention Specialist or Early Education of the Handicapped Licensure
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education Teaching License
  • Self motivated and holds experience working with children with a variety of special needs
  • Experience and/or training with Autism and/or social emotional learning is a plus
  • Must meet legal requirements relative to a criminal background check
General Description:
  • Plans and implements developmentally appropriate lessons and activities and incorporates individualization for all students while ensuring that all plans align with the preschool curriculum and Ohio content standards
  • Implements effective classroom management procedures that are developmentally appropriate to preschool aged children. Uses the Conscious Discipline and PBIS behavioral supports
  • Collaborates with other teachers and shares knowledge and resources that enhance the educational process and benefit student learning
  • Uses strong communication skills in verbal, written, and nonverbal communication
  • Participates in the preschool evaluation process to help identify children who may have special needs and prepares evaluation team reports (ETR)
  • Helps prepare and implement Section 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for classroom students meeting eligibility requirements.
  • Supports an inclusive educational environment. 50% are typically developing and 50% have special needs requiring interventions
  • Works collaboratively with preschool staff to provide a multidisciplinary team approach (including teaching assistant and all therapists such as speech, OT, PT, APE,etc.)
  • Uses appropriate technology in instructional and records management activities and is comfortable with learning and using a variety of technology
  • Administers standardized and observation based assessments and follows test security procedures.
  • Maintains accurate documentation for records and submits reports on time.
  • Develops and maintains a positive learning environment where children feel safe and accepted
  • Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required school events
  • Provides open communication between the school and families
  • Actively participates in staff meetings and takes initiative in professional growth opportunities
  • Must meet preschool licensure and SUTQ laws with PD hours and develop an OCCRRA account
  • Must be trained or willing to be trained in Communicable Disease, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, and CPI
  • Duties may require lifting, carrying, standing, reaching, bending, crouching, and/or kneeling.
  • Duties may include diapering or potty training and assisting with personal care tasks
  • Must maintain an updated physical every 3 years
  • Potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens and communicable diseases.
  • Potential for interaction with disruptive and/or unruly children
  • Maintains acceptable attendance record and punctuality
