Elementary School Math Learning Specialist 2026-2027

About the Position:
We are looking for a Math Interventionist for Elementary School grades K-5 for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Community Roots offers Integrated Co-Taught (ICT) classes for all K-5 classrooms and all 6-8 grade core content areas.

Math Specialist Role Description:
Provide K-5 academic intervention for math in the least restrictive setting
Report three times a year on IEP goals
Write progress notes on all students on caseload
Participate in regular Learning Specialist Team Meetings
Work on a team of case managers to facilitate the IEP process for individual students
Hold family conferences to review individual student's progress at least twice a year and if needed more frequent, regular conferences will be arranged
Collaborate with grade level teachers in planning math lessons and units that increase access and engagement for students
Administer drill down assessments for students based on screenings
Collaborate on developing lessons and supports planning for differentiation, accommodations, modifications, and embedding individual student goals into the curriculum, as well as updates on intervention groups
Collaborate with classroom teachers to administer and review assessment data (e.g. school based assessments, including proctor state Math tests)

Qualifications:
Preference for New York State Special Education Teacher Certification
Experience working with students with IEPs and students at risk of academic failure and implementing academic interventions using multiple intervention strategies and approaches
Expertise in Kindergarten-5th Grade Common Core Math Standards
Experience providing K-5 mathematics intervention and instruction
Experience using the EngageNY curriculum or similar curricular framework
UDL expertise preferred
Prior teaching experience with demonstrated success
