High School Music Education Specialist with Band Emphasis

Timberlane Regional School District is seeking an energetic individual to plan and carry out an effective music education teaching environment that will maximize learning for all students and contribute to their development as confident, competent, and creative learners. The successful candidate must have a strong primary area of study in band instrumental music education and secondary areas of study in jazz and improvisation, and marching band. Additional experience in piano instruction, music theory instruction, and musical theater instruction is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Plan, communicate, and carry out effective music instruction to maximize learning for all students.

2. Instructional lead for 9-12 concert band, marching band, and jazz band, including evening and weekend festivals and performances.

3. Instructional support for 6-8 band instrumental instruction including evening and weekend festivals and performances.

4. Support the 6-12 music program, including instructional lead for general music or instructional support for non-band performing ensembles.

5. Engage and support all students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies and resources to respond to students' diverse needs and by engaging students in problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

6. Create and maintain an effective environment for learning that engages all students in purposeful learning activities and encourages constructive interactions among students. Establish and maintain standards for student behavior, managing routines, transitions, and instructional time effectively.

7. Demonstrate strong knowledge of subject matter content and student development by organizing curriculum to maximize student learning.

8. Work collaboratively with the music department to plan and develop a comprehensive and well-articulated music program for grades 6 through 12.

9. Support music department events and programs including school and district music performances and activities.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain positive and collaborative relationships with parents and staff.
Attend grade level/department/staff meetings.
Participate as an active member at schools including extra duties as assigned.
Job Related Skills and Essential Qualities

Knowledge in using data and making instructional decisions.
Knowledge of instructional strategies, curriculum, and assessment.
Skilled at facilitating groups.
Effective written and oral communications.
Salary and benefits per Timberlane Teachers Association agreement
NH Certification or SOE in Music (1200)
