Physical Education Teacher (Anticipated)

What You Need:
  • Ability to work successfully with students, staff, administrators and community members
  • Daily, In-person attendance and ability to be organized and work collaboratively with students, staff and families
  • Must be flexible
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to read basic operating instructions and communicate in writing
  • The applicant must have good health and personal hygiene
  • Exhibited leadership qualities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must possess basic computer skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement a comprehensive physical education curriculum that meets state standards, addresses various skill levels, and incorporates a variety of activities, including sports, gymnastics, dance, and fitness
  • Deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons that encourage student participation, skill development, and a positive attitude towards physical activity
  • Develop assessments and monitor student performance through various methods, including tests, physical skills, fitness levels, overall participation, and presentations
  • Maintain a safe and organized environment by following safety protocols, properly handling equipment, and ensuring that all activities are conducted in a safe manner
  • Educate students on the importance of physical activity, nutrition, and healthy habits, fostering a lifelong appreciation for wellness
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curricula and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to contribute to the overall mission of the institution
  • Maintain a safe and positive environment for all students
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
  • Supervision of multiple students at once
  • Establishing routines and procedures
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Preferred Skills/Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Michigan for elementary education with an endorsement in physical education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and assessing educational activities
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students to participate in physical activities and develop healthy lifestyles
