Job Description Long-Term Substitute K-4 Physical Education TeacherPosition Type: Long-Term Substitute
Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 4th Grade
Reports To: School Principal or Designee
Position Purpose The Long-Term Substitute Physical Education Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate physical education program for students in grades K-4. The teacher promotes physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle habits while maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Essential Functions - Plan and implement engaging physical education lessons aligned with district and state standards
- Teach fundamental motor skills, movement concepts, and age-appropriate physical activities
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students
- Adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs and abilities
- Maintain classroom management and ensure student safety at all times
- Assess student progress and provide feedback as appropriate
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support student development
- Follow established school policies, procedures, and schedules
- Supervise students during transitions and designated duties

Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Education, or a related field (preferred)
- Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching license as required by the state
- Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred
- Knowledge of physical education curriculum and child development
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Must pass required criminal background checks and be free from communicable disease.
