Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated, energetic, and adaptable educators to join our Academic Summer School program. This role is designed for teachers who are passionate about closing achievement gaps and helping students regain confidence in English, Math, or Science. As a Summer School Teacher, you will provide targeted instruction in a condensed format, focusing on core standards and credit recovery (or enrichment) for a diverse student body.

Schedule & Hours

This is a four-week seasonal position. Teachers will be scheduled for either session based on program needs.
  • Session 1: 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM
  • Session 2: 10:45 AM - 1:15 PM
  • Days: Monday through Thursday (Fridays off!)
Core Responsibilities
  • Targeted Instruction: Deliver high-impact lessons in your subject area (English, Math, or Science) tailored to student needs.
  • Curriculum Adaptation: Modify existing curriculum to fit the 2.5-hour session blocks, ensuring a mix of direct instruction, collaborative work, and independent practice.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Monitor student progress through daily formative assessments and provide timely feedback to ensure mastery of key concepts by July 30.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment that encourages summer engagement.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate attendance records and submit final grades/progress reports at the conclusion of the program.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related subject field (English, Mathematics, or Science).
  • Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification in the relevant subject area and grade level preferred.
  • Skills: * Ability to condense complex topics into digestible, engaging lessons.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to build quick rapport with students over a short duration.
    • Proficiency in utilizing classroom technology to enhance learning.

Compensation: $45/hr not to exceed 56 hours
