Description: Anticipated Teacher - American Sign Language, 1 FTE
Job Summary: The TEACHER - HEARING IMPAIRED provides specially designed instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing (D/HH) in accordance with the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
The teacher ensures communication access, plans and delivers instruction aligned to IEP goals, coordinates auxiliary aids and services, and collaborates with families, audiologists, interpreters,
and school staff to support language, literacy, academic, and social-emotional development in the least restrictive environment.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or related field.
Valid Ohio teaching license appropriate to Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligible); knowledge of IDEA and Ohio Operating Standards.
Proficiency in one or more communication approaches used by D/HH students (e.g., American Sign Language, spoken language/auditory-oral, cued speech, total communication); commitment to honoring the student's
and family's preferred mode of communication.
Knowledge of assessment tools for language, communication, listening, and academic skills for D/HH learners.
Experience collaborating with audiologists, speech-language pathologists, interpreters, and general educators.
Working Conditions: 7.75 hours per day, 184 days per school year calendar.
