Amethyst Brook Elementary School is seeking internal applicants for the Library/ Technology Paraeducator position. Someone who is outgoing and self directed and enjoys working with elementary school students, faculty, and staff. Someone enthusiastic about supporting the academic and research needs of diverse learners in a public facing role. This is a full time, 10 month paraprofessional position. The majority of the time will be spent meeting the needs of the library with about 10%-20% of the week needed to support the technical needs of the community.

  • Experience using library management systems, Microsoft and Google software (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides) especially Google Sites

  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills

  • Responsibilities and duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide a warm and welcoming environment as a first point of contact to all patrons
  • Assist the librarian in the maintenance and development of the print and digital collection and in the processing and cataloging of all library materials (books, magazines, audiobooks, ebooks and digital devices)
  • Maintain circulation and patron records, including monitoring the borrowing of materials and charging, renewing, and discharging library books and materials
  • Checks returned books for damage and make minor repairs to books and materials as needed
  • Assist in the training, supervision, and evaluation of student workers and volunteers
  • Provide technical assistance to patrons on library computers
  • Provide technical assistance to staff and students to support needs related to chromebooks, doc cameras, laptops, and general software.
  • Develop themed displays and bulletin boards throughout the year
  • Assist in daily operational tasks, including opening and closing the library and following direction from the IT staff.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Librarian and IT staff.

Once hired, we will support the successful candidate to develop a proficiency with the tools used by the Library and IT staff.
