Lower School Support Teacher and After School Program Staff (temp coverage)

Job Description

Job Description

The Lower School at Milton Academy seeks a full-time, benefits-eligible Support Teacher to assist in K-5 classrooms during the academic day and to supervise students in the After School Program (ASP) from 3:00 to 4:00 PM daily. This is a temporary position that begins in August 2026 and concludes in mid-February 2027. This role focuses on supporting instruction, supervising students, and contributing to a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment. The Support Teacher will also serve as a substitute across all Lower School classrooms as needed.

In addition to classroom responsibilities, the Support Teacher will play an active role in the Lower School's After School Program by providing supervision and support for students attending ASP each afternoon. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the ASP team to help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students at the end of the school day.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in a school or childcare setting, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a collaborative, flexible approach to working with students and colleagues. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in education or gaining classroom experience in an independent school setting.

About our School:

Milton Academy is an independent college preparatory K-12 school, boarding and day in grades 9-12, located south of Boston.

Milton Academy cultivates in our students a passion for learning and a respect for others. Milton students grow by developing their own identities, learning from and listening to the lived experiences of others, and living and working among peers whose differences they accept with respect and care.

In our ongoing work to create the anti-racist environment at Milton-free from bias, injustice, and bigotry-that our values demand, we encourage each other to explore our own histories and identities, be open to learning from others, seek to understand the world around us with a critical lens, and strive to practice ways of interacting with one another that ensures all students and adults feel safe, supported, and able to express all aspects of their identities without judgment or hate.

In our dynamic community, we honor that Milton students challenge each other to build a foundation upon which to leave Milton and partner with their future communities to help create a more just world and in those spaces that are dissonant to our values, to have the courage to speak up and live by our motto, "Dare to be true."
