RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Art classroom teacher, responsible for instruction of the 5th - 8th grade curriculum.
  • Creating a positive learning environment
  • Developing long and short-range plans
  • Implementing plans effectively
  • Formative and summative assessment of student progress
  • Administrative duties such as attendance, parent communication, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A valid New York State teaching certificate in Art
  • Demonstrate successful classroom experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with peers and supervisors
  • Ability to motivate and instruct students in developing problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated evidence of knowledge of NYS Regents/Standards and ability to plan lessons for Regents level courses.

  • Demonstrated evidence of a knowledge of technology and its application in the classroom
  • Demonstrated evidence of a proven ability to effectively organize
  • Demonstrated evidence of a proficiency in modifying curriculum to meet the needs of special education students and advanced learners
  • Demonstrated evidence of an ability to reflect and contemplate on one's teaching - allowing for growth and excellence
  • Demonstrated experience, or knowledge of, working with at-risk students.

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Demonstrated evidence of a willingness to contribute within and outside the department if called upon (i.e. advisor, chaperone, club, etc.)

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

ANNUAL SALARY: $44,840 - $53,700 Per WTA Contract
