The Lawrence County Joint Vocational School District is seeking a Social Studies Teacher. This position provides classroom instruction that helps students build knowledge in history, government, economics, geography, and citizenship. The teacher supports student growth, career readiness, and the mission of LCJVSD. This role follows district policies, Board directives, and all required training expectations used across LCJVSD job descriptions.

Responsibilities
Teach social studies courses aligned to Ohio learning standards
Plan lessons, activities, projects, and assessments that support student learning
Use clear instruction to help students understand history, government, economics, geography, and current civic topics
Support literacy, critical thinking, research, discussion, and writing skills
Monitor student progress, attendance, and classroom performance
Maintain accurate records, grades, and required reports
Create a safe, respectful, and organized classroom environment
Use technology and instructional tools to support learning
Adapt instruction for students with different learning needs and skill levels
Work with staff, administration, families, and community partners to support student success
Support employability skills, responsible citizenship, and positive workplace behavior
Complete all required training assigned by the district in a timely manner
Follow district policies, administrative regulations, and Board directives
Support the mission and educational goals of LCJVSD
Contribute to district marketing and communications efforts, including social media or content sharing, in accordance with established procedures

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Ohio teaching license or ability to obtain proper licensure for Social Studies
Bachelor's degree in education, social studies, history, or a related field
Knowledge of Ohio learning standards for social studies
Ability to teach high school students with different learning needs and backgrounds
Ability to use classroom technology and learning management systems
Meets all health requirements required by law
Successfully passes BCI/FBI background check as required by Board policy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching high school social studies
Experience in a career-technical school setting
Knowledge of project-based learning and career-connected instruction
Strong classroom management skills
Experience supporting students with IEPs, 504 plans, or other learning supports
