EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time, 184 Days, Master Agreement, FLSA Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: - Valid Ohio Certification/Licensure by the State of Ohio, Department of Education to instruct in his/her area of professional competency and/or assignment
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- Must pass criminal background check
- Knowledge of career technical education pathways and workforce trends preferred.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Career Tech Exploration Instructor provides engaging, age-appropriate career awareness and exploration experiences for students in grades K8. The instructor introduces students to a wide variety of career pathways through hands-on activities, project-based learning, and interactive experiences designed to spark curiosity about future careers. The instructor helps students develop foundational skills such as problem solving, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking while building awareness of career technical education opportunities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Develops and delivers engaging, hands-on career exploration lessons aligned to district curriculum and Ohio career awareness standards.
- Introduces students to a variety of career clusters and technical fields including health sciences, engineering, manufacturing, business, information technology, public safety, and skilled trades.
- Creates interactive learning experiences that allow students to explore careers through projects, simulations, demonstrations, and problem-solving activities.
- Encourages curiosity, creativity, and innovation while fostering a positive learning environment.
- Helps students make connections between classroom learning and real-world careers.
- Designs age-appropriate career exploration activities that build foundational employability skills such as teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.
- Coordinates guest speakers, career demonstrations, and partnerships with local businesses and industry professionals when appropriate.
- Supports career awareness events such as career days, STEM events, and career exploration activities.
- Utilizes technology, tools, and equipment safely to enhance learning and engagement.
- Encourages student engagement through inquiry-based and project-based instruction.
- Creates opportunities for students to explore interests and talents related to potential future career pathways.
- Promotes awareness of career technical education programs available to students in later grades.
- Maintains a classroom environment that supports active participation, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
- Organizes and maintains classroom materials, supplies, and learning resources.
- Promotes and maintains a safe learning environment in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Assures appropriate supervision of students at all times.
- Works collaboratively with teachers and staff to integrate career exploration concepts into academic content where appropriate.
- Participates in school events, parent conferences, open houses, and district activities as requested.
- Communicates with families and staff regarding student engagement and learning activities.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation as required.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of career trends, workforce needs, and emerging career pathways.
- Maintains valid teaching licensure appropriate for the assignment.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, supervisor, or designee.
OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Conducts and presents the position in a professional manner.
- Maintains a positive work attitude.
- Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills.
- Performs duty assignments e.g. parking lot, cafeteria and restroom.
- Actively seeks to acquire knowledge and skills to meet new challenges through involvement in professional development activities.
Starting date: Position begins with the 20262027 school year.
Salary and Benefits:Based upon Board Policy and Master Agreement. Appropriate placement on the Certified Staff Salary Schedule to be determined by education and experience in the various sectors of the business field. Base contract is: 184 days; 7.5 hour workday. One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.
