Job Description Physical TherapistsGENERAL DESCRIPTION (1-3 LINES DESCRIBING ROLE): The Physical Therapist works to provide direct, one-on-one and small group support to students who require intensive, ongoing physical therapy to meet IEP goals and successfully participate in activities throughout the school day.
QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- Physical Therapy degree from an accredited program
- Massachusetts Physical Therapist license
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:- 1-3 years of experience providing Physical Therapy for individuals in an educational setting
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES (NOT LIMITED TO): - Physical Therapy Services Therapy and consultation services will be provided to students based on the individual needs of each student and in compliance with each child's IEP.
- Provide services in the least restrictive setting in accordance with the child's IEP.
- Consult with other Related Services providers, teachers, and parents in order to provide effective services in a variety of settings,
- Develop, update, and adhere to both a daily and weekly schedule
- Maintain records of prior planning or lessons and to keep therapy notes for each child and therapy session and to maintain accurate records of student attendance
- Document progress in a progress report at the conclusion of the ESY Program
- Responsible for implementing "other job-related duties" as needed
- Ability to travel to different schools is required
Program Dates/Times- Program Dates/Times
- Programs are 5 weeks or 7 weeks depending upon classroom assignment.
- 5 week program dates are: Weeks of: Weeks of 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, and 8/10
- 7 week program dates are: Weeks of 7/6, 7/13, 7/20, 7/27, 8/3, 8/10, and 8/17
- Positions available for programs that are 2 days per week (Tues & Thur), 3 days per week (Tues-Thurs), or 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs) 9am-2pm.
- Program dates, hours, and rate will be stipulated in contract.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work Environment: Majority of work is performed in a school/classroom environment. The noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, crouch and/or kneel. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Vision and hearing correctable to within normal ranges.
