SUMMARY: Responsible for providing assistance to the Principal in the administration of the total school program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists in supervision and evaluation of staff
- Carries out the school's discipline policy in a timely manner and maintains accurate
and up-to-date records
- Distributes textbooks and maintains up-to-date records
- Assists in monitoring the instructional program of the school
- Assists teachers in organizing classrooms for effective learning and classroom management
- Implements all school policies and assumes responsibilities in absence of principal
- Shares responsibility of building security
- Assists in preparation of District, State, and Federal reports
- Contacts substitute teachers as needed
- Coordinates duty schedules to insure effective monitoring of students
- Coordinates security arrangements for extracurricular activities
- Coordinates bus transportation, including field trips
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned
by the principal
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides leadership for school operations in the principal's absence, supervising staff and ensuring a safe, efficient learning environment. Exercises full supervisory responsibilities in alignment with district policy and applicable law, including interviewing, hiring, training and coaching employees; assigning and evaluating work; and administering recognition and corrective action when needed. Responds to employee concerns and resolves problems promptly to maintain a positive, professional workplace.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Holds a valid South Carolina Elementary Principal's Certificate.
- Has a minimum of three years of successful experience in teaching and/or school administration.
- Earned a master's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge and skills in curriculum design, implementation, and staff development.
- Communicates effectively with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders, both orally and in writing.
- Exhibits effective leadership in school-wide discipline, including developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior expectations and interventions.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read and analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
