Job Description POSITION PURPOSE: Under the guidance and support of the Deputy Superintendent/Chief of Schools, the Executive Director of Secondary Education provides strategic coaching and administrative leadership for secondary principals. The role requires, but is not limited to, the provision of ongoing coaching and professional development to enhance school-based instructional leadership capacity. The Executive Director also collaborates with the principal to ensure quality implementation of the school's instructional program while supporting the practices and procedures that ensure continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coaching, Professional Development, and Instructional Support- Evaluates Principals while providing strategic coaching, training, and general professional support to ensure continuous improvement
- Coordinates professional learning opportunities for school-based administrators
- Provides leadership for principals in their efforts to improve teacher performance and ensure the application of quality instructional practices
- Collaborates with the principal to assess strengths and opportunities for improvement; aligns professional development in accordance with identified needs
- Works cooperatively with district and staff to support and enhance the school's instructional program.
- Collects, reviews, and interpret performance data to improve student achievement.
Administrative/Professional Leadership Duties- Helps to ensure that schools are in compliance with district mandates and expectations
- Plans and conducts principals' meetings while serving as a primary source of information and professional guidance
- Responds to constituent concerns, complaints, requests, and inquiries
- Performs other related duties as assigned

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent/Chief of Schools, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Knowledge of school and district policies and practices
- Ability to analyze and solve complex problems relating to students, personnel, disciplinary actions, legal and regulatory issues, operations, and other management responsibilities
- Must be able to successfully manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Knowledge of instructional methodologies, strategies, and assessment instruments
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
CERTIFICATIONS:- Must hold or be eligible for a provisional or clear renewable Leadership Certificate
EXPERIENCE:
- Master's Degree in Education, Educational Administration or related field
- Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience in Education, Educational Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Principal
