ATHLETIC DIRECTOR (anticipated)
SUMMARY: Organizes and administers the overall athletic program for the district
DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
1. Responsible for the management of all aspects of the district-wide athletic program.
2. Plans and Implements promotions, fundraisers, marketing, and game day activities for athletic program.
3. Collaborates with coaches, administrators, and other stakeholders on marketing strategy, out of box thinking, and risk taking to maximize revenue and sponsorship for district.
4. Develops strategic plan for local/regional marketing and advertising campaigns to drive ticket sales and maximize event awareness and exposure.
5. Manages production of promotional publications and items, such as media guides, game day programs, brochures, posters, etc to ensure consistency.
6. Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, recommending, training, supervising, and evaluation of all personnel involved in the district-wide athletic program.
7. Annually evaluates all head coaches and all athletic programs.
8. Works with assistant superintendent, principals and other administrators of school programs to assure effective leadership in athletic program development and management and to ensure that those programs are meeting identified district needs.
9. Responsible for district-wide compliance to all federal, state, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
10. Reports regularly to the assistant superintendent and principals on the athletic school programs.
11. Responsible for annually updating of the athletic and coaches handbooks and the enforcement of the athletic code of conduct and policies.
12. Coordinates with the building principals and Junior High Athletic Director the scheduling, oversight, and rental procedures for all district athletic facilities and athletic fields for athletic programs.
13. Coordinate all media and press releases for athletics programs.
14. Responsible for arranging all security at athletic events.
15. Responsible for the coordination of all athletic awards programs, college recruitment, and general public relations.
16. Coordinates all maintenance as it relates to the district's athletic facilities and fields.
17. Responsible for the management of the district wide athletic budget and purchasing procedures.
18. Works with building administrators in an effort to promote community use of school facilities.
19. Serves as the school district liaison with the local recreational associations in program development and use of school facilities.
20. Promotes the athletic programs district wide, collaborates with all booster/support organizations and cooperates with all community agencies interested in the welfare of the student athletes of the district.
21. Identifies people and resources in the community that can add to the sports program.
22. Cooperates with various organizations (advisory councils) in addressing school district needs.
23. Liaison to all outside community athletic groups (i.e, pee wee, YMCA, etc.) utilizing district athletic facilities.
24. Works collaboratively with high school principal and assistant principals to oversee student activities.
25. Works with other Athletic Directors in the league to provide an atmosphere of sportsmanship at all athletic events.
26. Works as the liaison for Springboro Community Schools with our athletic conference.
27. Monitors, complies, and enforces all eligibility rules of the Ohio High School Athletic Association and the Springboro Community School District Board of Education.
28. Coordinate strategic planning for district wide athletics.
29. Will attend various meetings and programs as requested.
30. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
2. Minimum of three-five years of athletic or other administrative experience.
3. Minimum of three years teaching (preschool - 12th grade) required.
4. Coaching experience at the Varsity level required.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
6. Must pass criminal background check.
