FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8a, in accordance with Jefferson County Salary Scale,
Pay Grade E; commensurate with experience and education level
EMPLOYMENT Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8; extended
TERM: employment terms may be established by JCBOE
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5314, and JCBOE's Evaluation Policy for Service Personnel
SUMMARYIn addition to the Performance Responsibilities, Qualifications, Physical Demands, and
Work Environment contained in the Cook III job description; the following performance expectations are applicable to Cafeteria Manager/Computer Operator:
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Participating in and directing the operation of the child nutrition program at
- the assigned school.
- Assisting principal/assistant principal with the evaluation of kitchen staff.
- Preparing weekly assignment schedules for kitchen staff.
- Ensuring compliance with the West Virginia State Department of Education
Child Nutrition Program Policy 4321.1.
- Ensuring compliance with Jefferson County Board of Health sanitation regulations.
- Cooperating with Jefferson County Health Department personnel in kitchen inspections.
- Verifying and submitting food inventories and financial records to Coordinator of Child Nutrition.
- Plans and directs the preparation and serving of all food in the cafeteria.
- Demonstrates professionalism and support the county's commitment to creating an environment where all employees feel safe and accepted.
- Exercises courtesy, respect, and tact when dealing with fellow employees, staff, and students
- Assumes responsibility for the security of food and supplies.
- Supervises the storage and care of foods and supplies.
- Assumes responsibility for the security of revenue from cafeteria services.
- Sees that menus developed by the Coordinator of Child Nutrition are followed without deviation.
- Supervises and participates in the preparation and serving of food.
- Oversees and participates in the cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas.
- Assigns, directs, plans and supervises the work of cafeteria employees.
- Keeps employee time records.
- Plans work schedules, and arranges for substitutes when required.
- Instructs new cafeteria employees in performing their assigned tasks.
- Directs sanitation procedures.
- Plans, directs, and supervises cleaning schedules for the eating area of the cafeteria.
- Inspects the kitchen, cooking and mixing utensils, and employees for cleanliness and sanitary purposes.
- Assumes responsibility for checking that all equipment in the cafeteria areas is in safe, working condition, and notifies the appropriate authority when repairs or replacements are needed.
- Maintains accurate records on food and supplies received and used.
- Responsible for maintaining temperature charts.
- Assumes the responsibility for maintaining and submitting to the County Office all reports required by Coordinator of Child Nutrition in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the computerized lunch program as approved by the Jefferson County Board of Education.

Cafeteria Manager/Computer Operator' means a person employed to direct the operation of a food services program in a school, including assigning duties to employees, approving requisitions for supplies and repairs, keeping inventories, inspecting areas to maintain high standards of sanitation, preparing financial reports and keeping records pertinent to food services of a school and a qualified person employed to operate computers." (Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-8).
- High school diploma or GED and passing scores on the required state competency test for Cafeteria Manager and Computer Operator and in accordance with applicable statues on service hiring requirements.
- Holds and maintains SafeServe certification.
- Ability to demonstrate patience while working with children.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten or typed material and adjusting focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with students, staff, and vendors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an
employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable
accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the
essential functions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud
(60-90 dB) reflective of a school kitchen/cafeteria. Work environment includes working with heat from ovens and cold temperatures of a freezer/walk-in cooler.
