Serving Maine's Midcoast communities of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell, and Topsham, MSAD 75 is home to over 2,350 students and more than 600 faculty and staff members.

MSAD 75 is seeking a Library Media Specialist to join our vibrant educational community. Together, we can inspire the next generation of learners and leaders.

POSTION: Bowdoin Central School (.4FTE), Bowdoinham Community School (.4FTE), Harpswell Community School (.2FTE)

START DATE: August 25, 2026

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Oversee all operations of the Elementary Learning Commons program and the Learning Commons staff.
  • Implement a library media program that is congruent with the AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner; the National Educational Technology Standards, and the Maine system of Learning Results, including the Common Core State Standards.
  • Manage Destiny Software for five elementary schools.
  • Build and maintain a current, balanced collection of print and electronic resources that supports the needs and interests of all students.
  • Create age-appropriate library lessons that focus on literacy and information-seeking skills and digital citizenship.
  • Stay current with new technology to be able to introduce tools and applications to teachers and students.
  • Provide related professional development and support.
  • Communicate effectively to the school community and make connections with parents to support literacy and digital citizenship at home.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers on literacy, research units, and technology integration.
  • Collaborate with other district staff to identify and address system-wide priorities pertaining to the technology and learning commons programs, as well as district technology infrastructure that impacts learning.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must hold a valid State of Maine Department of Education Library Media Specialist PreK-12 (071) Certification.
  • Must hold a valid State of Maine Department of Education Background Check (CHRC) Authorization.
  • Master of Science in Education in Library Media & Information Technology, or similar graduate degree.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in connecting information and resources to support high-performance learning environments.
  • Working in a technology-rich library-media learning environment preferred.
  • Implementing library, media, and integrated technology services in accordance with AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner.
  • Providing professional development to other educators in library, media, and integrated technology learning.
