Title: ASSISTANT MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR File 604
Reports to: Maintenance Coordinator
Job Objective: Helps supervise district-wide maintenance services.
Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and building system (e.g., HVAC, fire suppression, security, communication, etc.) skills substantiated by training/work experience. Specific license/certification may be required as deemed appropriate by the board.
• Ability to manage compliance with environmental, health and safety laws/regulations.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work that includes lifting/moving large and heavy items.
• Available to work irregular hours/non-traditional schedule as an "on-call" employee when required.
• Demonstrates a "hands-on" leadership style and skill in developing/managing people.
• Demonstrates sufficient math skills to calculate totals, percentages, ratios, and portions accurately.
• Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
• Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts personal responsibility for decisions/conduct.
• Exhibits effective time management and resourceful problem-solving skills.
• Interacts confidently with others and displays a strong customer-service focus.
• Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
• Meets mandated health screening requirements following a conditional offer of employment.
• Shows evidence of core computer competencies deemed appropriate at the time of hire.
• Valid driver's license. Meets prerequisite/ongoing qualifications to be covered by the district's insurance carrier. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is advantageous.
Essential Functions: 1. Helps manage the effective delivery/advancement of maintenance operations.
• Develops/implements a work plan. Ensures all tasks are completed within required time-frames.
• Addresses issues that arise during the absence of the maintenance supervisor.
• Implements organizational practices that encourage employee commitment to change initiatives.
• Performs all custodial tasks as needed, including room set-ups and exterior grounds cleaning.
• Helps coordinate the pick-up/delivery of maintenance supplies/equipment.
• Provides technical/manual skill in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining buildings equipment systems, furnishings and grounds. Coordinates preventive maintenance programs.
• Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment regularly. Resolves problems (e.g., building codes, ordinances, electrical, equipment malfunctions, plumbing, structural integrity, vandalism, etc.).
• Manages construction/renovation/demolition projects. Monitors contractors/vendors performance.
• Coordinates the care of landscaped areas/athletic fields. Maintains grounds keeping equipment.
• Helps update snow emergency plans. Helps manage snow removal operations.
• Helps with preparation/clean-up activities for district events. Maintains building utilization records as directed. Assists with non-school use of district facilities.
• Helps plan/deliver maintenance staff in-service training programs as directed.
• Uses performance-based safety standards to plan for equipment replacement/upgrades.
• Helps evaluate operational performance. Identifies short/long-range program needs / opportunities.
• Protects district property. Ensures buildings and job sites are secured at the end of the day.

• Maintains high standards for appropriate conduct. Recognizes and responds to prevent aggressive behavior or harassment. Complies with district procedures and state law when dealing with discrimination and suspected child abuse/neglect.
• Serves as a contact person for emergency response services (e.g., fire, medical, police, etc.).
6. Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

• Implements workplace initiatives that advance district goals.
Working Conditions: Safety is essential to job performance. Employees must exercise caution and comply with standard safety regulations and district procedures when involved in the following situations:
• Balancing, bending, climbing, crouching, kneeling, reaching, or standing.
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.
• Exposure to air-borne particulates, chemicals, combustible materials, electrical hazards, equipment vibrations, noise, moving mechanical parts, odors and slippery surfaces.
• Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
• Interacting with aggressive, disruptive and/or unruly individuals.
• Lifting, carrying and moving work-related supplies/equipment.
• Operating and/or riding in a vehicle. Working in/near active vehicular traffic.

• Working in confined spaces and/or under variable lighting conditions.
