Reports to: District Administrator, Monroe School Board

Qualifications: The Director of Special Services shall have obtained appropriate educational background and shall have successfully demonstrated through experience these criteria (skills, knowledge, abilities).

Minimum Requirements: Special Education Administrator Certification, New Hampshire Department of Education

Job Goal: To use leadership, supervisor, and administrative skills to develop, achieve and maintain appropriate special education programs for all students in need of these programs and related services.

Job Summary: The Special Education Administrator, in collaboration with administration will be responsible for ensuring high quality teaching practices, supervising and evaluating staff, supporting disability-based student behavior needs and ensuring a safe school environment within the administration of Special Services. The Special Education Administrator, working within the Standards set by the State of NH, federal law and School Board policy, is responsible for the coordination and successful implementation of the District's Special Education Procedures Manual and will coordinate special education supports and services to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in the hiring of Special Education and Related Services Personnel.
-Supervise and coordinate the delivery of special education and related services to include the planning and operations of Special Education Environments for students with disabilities.
-Supervise and coordinate the special education process; including referral, evaluation, identification, IEP development, and placement.
-Chair IEP team meetings when necessary and serve as the LEA Representative when necessary
-Identify staff development needs that align with District goals by actively collaborating with special services staff and District administration.
-Coordinate with District administration to support a unified vision of programming and services designed to facilitate a smooth transition for students entering and leaving their respective school.
-Partner with the special education teacher in building the Special Education budget as well as overseeing federal and state special education grants.
-Actively maintain communication with the special education teacher, building Administration and school staff to coordinate the implementation of special education programs, district policies and procedures.
-Keep abreast with current developments in special education.
-Advocate, nurture, and sustain a school culture and instructional program for special education,
-Ensure management of the organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient and effective learning environment.
-Oversee and ensure accuracy and frequent data entry in NHSEIS
-Collaborate with families and community members in a professional, respectful and positive manner
-Act with integrity, and in an ethical manner in all aspects of carrying out the responsibilities of this position.
-Foster team environment and/or approach and work as a district wide team
-Provide leadership in establishing new programs and developing improved understanding of existing programs
-Coordinate compliance with all federal and state statutes pertaining to special education students
-Work with appropriate staff to relate established curriculum to the specific learning needs of program students, and to contribute guidance and assistance to staff in planning and implementing individualized instructional strategies.
-Assume any assigned responsibility to contribute to the development, revision, and evaluation of curriculum In coordination with appropriate members of the administrative team, supervise instruction in the programs in the schools and related services
-Supervise the maintenance of accurate records of students
-Oversight of the teaching/work schedules of all assigned staff, and all special assignments Conduct staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of programs

This position is a new position, part -time, for the 26-27 school year.
