Position: Extended Care Assistant Coordinator

POSITION DESCRIPTION The Split Shift Before & After School Assistant Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the before and after-school Extended Care program. This position ensures a safe, engaging, and positive environment for students while supervising staff, communicating with families, and maintaining program compliance with district and state guidelines.
REPORTING Reports To: Extended Care Coordinator and Director of Student Activities
QUALIFICATIONS
? High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree in education, child development, recreation, or related field preferred.
? Previous experience working with school-age children required.
? Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
? Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
? Ability to maintain a positive and professional environment.
? CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
? Must successfully complete required background checks.
? Ability to manage a small staff
? Flexibility
? Willingness to participate in training opportunities presented by the Student Activities Director and Mason City Schools (this includes CPR certifications and Vector Online Trainings)
? Ability to work well within a team
? Assist with needs from the Student Activities Department as needed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT
? Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
? Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
? Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
? Supervise and manage all aspects of the before and after-school Extended Care program.
? Plan and coordinate age-appropriate activities, enrichment opportunities, and student engagement.
? Ensure the safety, well-being, and supervision of all students at all times.
? Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate program staff.
? Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and program records.
? Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and administration regarding student needs and program updates.
? Monitor student behavior and implement positive behavior management strategies.
? Ensure compliance with school district policies, licensing requirements, and safety procedures.
? Manage program supplies, equipment, and budget needs.
? Open and close the program facility in accordance with established procedures.
? Attend meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
? Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Activities Director.
Terms of Employment:: Evaluation: 198 Days Salary as defined by the Board
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
