The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District is seeking a highly skilled counselor for the high school to provide in-school counseling services for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The School Adjustment Counselor will work with the students with social/emotional issues. The caseload will be focused on providing counseling services for students with IEPs who receive counseling services.The Counselor will partner with other school personnel to meet the needs of the students in the school. This is a full term, interim position.

The School Adjustment Counselor will have the following roles and responsibilities:

Provide group and individual counseling services

Case management services for assigned caseload

Participate in IEP meetings; develop and progress monitor IEP goals

Collaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health issues

Provide crisis intervention when needed

Conduct self harm and threat assessments as needed

Do behavioral assessments and develop behavior support plans

Family communication and collaboration as part of service delivery planning and services

Collaborate and consult with teachers and related service personnel regarding strategies and interventions appropriate for students and communication regarding progress monitoring

Maintain contact with outside providers and agencies to facilitate a comprehensive approach to the student's service delivery

Experience working with Culturally Diverse Populations

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Attend districtwide mental health team meetings and trainings

Perform other related duties as required

Assume any additional responsibilities as directed by the Principal

Qualifications:

Master's Degree or above in Social Work, Psychology, or other mental health provider field

Background working with children and adolescents with mental health needs

MA ESE School Adjustment Counselor certification or eligibility for certification required.
