Contracted Days: 240 days
Job Summary: To assist and relieve the Executive Director of Special Services of bookkeeping and paperwork responsibilities so that he/she may devote maximum attention to the duties of supervision, program development, and management.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting preferred; relevant training and specialized experience will be considered
- Minimum two years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a SC government / school setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google programs, particularly Excel and Google sheets
- Ability to work independently, show initiative, and manage priorities effectively
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and attention to detail
- Experience with Special Services is a plus
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as District Administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Essential Duties:- Assisting in the development of budgets (IDEA, Preschool, Medicaid and special grants) for the special education department
- Running detailed expenditure reports for fund balances to ensure accuracy
- Entering and maintaining daily transactions, adjustments and journal entries into the district's financial system
- Ensuring that special education purchases are approved, ordered, received, and documented
- Providing instruction and training to building level secretarial staff on accounting operations and routines
- Keeping accurate records of accounting transactions
- Ensuring that financial activities comply with district policies and procedures
- Preparing reports for school administration and other stakeholders, GCSD Board and State Dept. of Education
- Maintain travel and make travel arrangements for conferences and workshops for Special Services staff
- Arranges and processes applications for evaluations through outside vendors
- Key absences and keep timesheets for personnel in Special Services
- Check with vendors on all items requisitioned
- Keep fixed assets records and technology troubleshooter for the department
- Prepare monthly billing reports for the charter school(s)
- Supervisor may assign other duties as needed
