Job Title: Food Services Worker

Supervisor: Food Services Director

Start Date/Hours: July 1- June 30; Monday through Friday (Full time 6:00am-2:30pm)

Compensation: Codman Academy Charter Public School follows a compensation scale based on years of direct experience. 1 year experience starts at $47,626 (with Associates) to 12+ years direct experience starting at $69,745 (with AA) annually.

Description: The Food Services Worker is responsible for preparing and serving daily breakfast, lunch and snack to students and staff.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

Assist in preparing breakfast, lunch and snack meals in accordance with the National School Lunch Program, as well as CACPS guidelines

Follow all regulations, policies, and procedures regarding food handling, personal hygiene, safety, and proper sanitation as directed by the Department of Health and the Food Services Director

Operate dishwasher and dispose of trash; sweep and mop kitchen areas and ensure constant cleanliness of floors, tables, and kitchen equipment

Operate, maintain, and/or clean food service equipment including temperature controlled storage units, dry storage containers, steamers, oven, meat slicers, knives, pots, pans, floor, wall, and outside areas

Attend to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detect and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or unusual conditions

Complete Production Records, including documentation of food temperatures as well as all coolers

Inspect all delivered items to ensure that they are of high quality and proper temperature for storage

Review all invoiced items delivered to ensure that all items have been received

Maintain entire kitchen in the absence of the Food Services Director

Transport food, dishes, trays, and utensils from kitchens and storage to serving sites either by carrying or by utilizing a cart

Provide guidance and training to other employees and volunteers performing related work

Serve student breakfast and lunch daily

Maintain inventories as needed and report immediately when items are low

Direct all questions to the Food Services Director or Food Services Supervisor

Perform other duties that may be assigned to you by the Head of School, or Director of Operations

Qualifications:

High School Diploma

At least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified

Must be ServSafe certified, or obtain certification within 30 days of hire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to read and write

Ability to understand and follow safety procedures

Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies

Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects

Knowledge of food service set-up and temperature requirements

Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods

Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.

Able to stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies

Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and heavy boxes
