Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Intervention Specialist to join our team at Wauseon Primary School, focusing on our Autism Classroom. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities, creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. This full-time position will involve collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and promote the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.

Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism, ensuring that goals are tailored to their unique needs.
- Create and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment that fosters learning and social interaction among students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to support student learning and inclusion in the classroom.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to measure student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and life skills, using evidence-based practices and interventions.
- Facilitate communication between students, parents, and staff to ensure a cohesive approach to each student's education and well-being.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to support positive behavior and social skills development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and interventions, and prepare reports as required.
- Stay informed about best practices in special education and autism interventions, attending workshops and training as necessary.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Psychology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching license or certification in Special Education, with a focus on autism spectrum disorders.
- Experience working with students with autism and other developmental disabilities in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation, as well as knowledge of state and federal special education laws.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the growth and development of students with special needs.
- Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining student records and documentation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with research and best practices in special education.
