Position Type: Student Support Services / Summer School Nurse

Location: Line Elementary School

Title: Summer School Nurse

RSU 57 is seeking the services of a nurse for its Title IA Summer School program. The nurse will be present each day while the program is in session.

The program runs in the morning 7:45 am-12:15 pm, from June 30 - July 23, 2026, Tuesday through Thursday.

Qualifications:

Must hold a current license in the State of Maine as a Registered Professional Nurse

Bachelor of Science degree (four year) from an accredited institution

Valid provision or professional state certificate to serve as a school nurse

Completed fingerprinting in accordance with school requirements

Minimum of two years nursing experience in pediatrics, community health or as a school nurse

Holds current BLS certification

Reports to:

Building administration and superintendent

Responsibilities include:

Providing direct professional nursing services, illness and emergency care to students and staff, all in accordance with professional standards, school board policy and procedures.

Administering medication with appropriate documentation.

Legal and Ethical Duties:

Maintains confidentiality related to all aspects of student performance and written or oral records

Demonstrates a respect for the legal and human rights of students

Meets and follows all laws and regulations at both the state and federal levels

Follows health and safety procedures established by the district

Arrives and departs punctually, notifying appropriate personnel about absences and coverage

Demonstrates loyalty, dependability, integrity, and other ethical standards

Follows the chain of command for various administrative procedures for student or program concerns

Observes all RSU 57 policies and related school procedures

Physical Demands

Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting

Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and pulling
